Authorities are working to identify a body found in the Big River north of Cedar Hill over the weekend.
The body was found at about 5:20 p.m. April 1 in the river near Old Byrnesville Road and Irish Lane, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol water patrol recovered the body, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Grant Bissell, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the criminal identification division detectives examined the body and determined it was a man. However, he said investigators were unable to identify the man because of the body’s decomposition.
The body did not show signs of trauma, and investigators do not believe there was foul play, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of today, April 4, the Jefferson County Medical Examiners Office had not identified the body.
