A 50-year-old Bloomsdale man was arrested May 8 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City after allegedly assaulting a security guard in the emergency room.
Crystal City Capt. Mike Pruneau said the man was in the emergency room for treatment after allegedly being struck in the face as he was walking down I-55.
Pruneau said the man claimed a vehicle had pulled over near where he was walking and a person reached out of the vehicle and hit him.
“He was transported by (Joachim-Plattin) ambulance to Jefferson Mercy and he started acting up in the ER,” Pruneau said. “The security guard tried to restrain him and he kicked him in the mouth and chipped his tooth.”
The man had an outstanding warrant through Jefferson County for a driving while intoxicated offense. A warrant will be sought for felony assault for this incident, Pruneau said.
