Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a backpack from an unlocked Ford Fiesta parked outside a home in the 2700 block of Tiara Drive. Officers also are searching for the owner of a different backpack found on that same street, police reported.
An 18-year-old Pevely man told police that his Under Armour backpack was stolen from his car while it was parked outside the home between 11:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. Feb. 12. Inside the backpack were air pods, a portable speaker and his school provided Chromebook, altogether valued at about $650, the report said.
While talking with the teenager, the officer was approached by someone else who lived in the neighborhood who said an Oakley backpack with two Fitbits and a debit card with no readable name was found near his home, according to the report.
Investigators have not determined if the two backpacks are connected. As of Feb. 15, none of the items stolen from the Fiesta had been recovered and police had not located the owner of the Oakley backpack, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
He said no suspects had been identified either. Anyone with information about the backpacks should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
