The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified Spencer Maucher, 31, of High Ridge as the man who was found dead this morning, April 6, on the parking lot outside All in One Liquor and Smoke House near the intersection of New Sugar Creek and Coil roads in unincorporated Fenton.

The Sheriff’s Office got a call at 7:17 a.m. about the body outside the liquor store, 40 New Sugar Creek Road, the report said.

There were no obvious signs of injury to the body, and the death does not appear to be a homicide. However, the death is under investigation because the circumstances of how the body ended up in the parking lot are not known, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.

The Sheriff’s Office is waiting for the Jefferson County Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death, Bissell said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Detective Bureau at 636-797-5515.

Maucher had pleaded guilty to at least two previous felony charges, according to court records.

In January 2013, he pleaded guilty to first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, a class C felony, stemming from a February 2012 incident in Jefferson County. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but the sentence was suspended after he completed a 120-day treatment program, and he was placed on five years’ probation, court records show.

In March 2015, he pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, a class C felony, tied to an October 2014 incident in Jefferson County. He was sentenced to five years in prison, according to court documents.

This is a developing story and more information will be reported when available.
