The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of approximately 240 feet of AT&T wire in Barnhart. The wire was cut from utility poles near Old Hwy. 21 and the 4600 block of Karie Lane, police reported.

The wire appeared to have been cut at about 1:40 a.m. May 13. AT&T employees reported service was disrupted at approximately that time, the report said.

The Sheriff’s Office did not report an approximate value for the stolen wire or a cost to replace the wire.

As of May 21, none of the wire had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
