A 51-year-old Arnold woman reportedly drank seven small bottles of alcohol while inside a convenience store. She allegedly had not purchased the alcohol, and the bottles were found in a trash can inside the store shortly after she left the business, Arnold Police reported.
At about 1:45 a.m. April 9, the woman, who was crying, entered the Mobile on the Run gas station, 3611 W. Outer Road, and asked an employee to use her phone. The woman made two calls on the employee’s phone and then walked to a display that featured a bucket that contained 20 small bottles of Fireball cinnamon whisky, the report said.
The woman allegedly hid behind a shelf and drank seven of the bottles. She then left the store and got into an unidentified car that drove away. The alcohol was worth $20.58, Arnold Police reported.
An officer looked at the call history on the employee’s phone and contacted a man the suspect had called. The man told police the woman is his estranged wife and they share a home in the Arnold area, the report said.
The man also told police that earlier that evening, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies had served his estranged wife with a restraining order, and she had left the house intoxicated, according to the report.
Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said Arnold Police sent the woman a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for alleged stealing.
