A 29-year-old Arnold woman and 24-year-old Barnhart man were arrested at Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., for alleged stealing, possession of controlled substances and unlawful possession of firearms, Arnold Police reported.
Officers were called at about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 5 to the store for a shoplifting in progress. After the officers stopped the pair, an officer allegedly found stolen jewelry in the woman’s purse, the report said.
The jewelry, valued at $69.59, was returned to the store, according to the report.
An officer also allegedly found a substance believed to be fentanyl in the man’s pocket. Also, when the vehicle the two arrived in was searched, officers found two handguns, a rifle, drug paraphernalia and a liquid suspected of being a controlled substance, the report said.
The woman and man, who is a convicted felon, were arrested and taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending the application of charges, according to the report.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
