A Home Depot employee has been arrested for allegedly stealing $1,101.75 from the store at 3865 Vogel Road in Arnold. The 18-year-old Arnold woman allegedly used a gift card that was supposed to be canceled to buy items for herself and others, and she didn’t charge someone for DeWalt batteries, Arnold Police reported.
Officers arrested the woman at the store on July 17. Home Depot security staff told Arnold Police the woman had allegedly played a role in at least three thefts in June, the report said.
The suspect allegedly took a gift card that another employee mistakenly rang up to have a value of $832.75 and was supposed to be cancelled. The woman then allegedly allowed someone else to purchase items with the card on June 10, and she allegedly made purchases for herself with the card on June 16, according to the report.
On June 27, the woman allegedly allowed another person to use the remaining balance on the gift card to make a purchase, and the suspect also did not charge that person $269 for DeWalt batteries, the report said.
The suspect was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending the application for charges, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
He said Arnold Police will seek a charge through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony stealing.
