Rocky, the Arnold Police dog who was missing for several hours Wednesday (April 8) during stormy weather, is OK and back on duty, Arnold Police Capt. Robert Ruckman says.
At about noon, Rocky, an 8-year-old black German shepherd, somehow got out of his kennel at his home in the Eagle Point subdivision along West Four Ridge Road in House Springs, Ruckman said.
Police and others searched for him all day, and local news media aired stories about the missing dog.
Jefferson County residents also received automated emergency phone calls about the missing dog.
At about 9:30 p.m., a resident spotted Rocky and called police.
The dog was found at a home in the Capetown subdivision off Hwy. 30 in High Ridge, about seven miles from his home, Ruckman said.
“An officer went right there and was able to get him,” Ruckman added.
