Arnold Police arrested a 31-year-old St. Louis man for allegedly attempting to cash a fraudulent check at the Regions Bank, 180 Richardson Crossing. The man was able to cash an altered check at the same bank two days before the arrest, police reported.
Officers were called on March 19 to the bank when the man attempted to cash a check for $2,350, the report said.
The same man on March 17 allegedly successfully cashed a different check for the same amount and from a different account. Employees determined that check had been altered after he had left the bank, according to the report.
As of March 27, investigators were still trying to find out how the man got the checks, the report said.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending the application for charges, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for forgery and fraud, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
