Two Arnold men were arrested after a large quantity of marijuana and a rifle allegedly were found in a car that was stopped for a traffic violation. The driver, a 30-year-old man, also was wanted on misdemeanor warrants, Arnold Police reported.
An officer stopped a 2003 Honda Civic at about 3:45 a.m. July 22 on Elm Road near Hinrichs Lane. He arrested the driver after learning the man was wanted for warrants in Crawford and Lincoln counties, the report said.
The officer reportedly saw a rifle in the car, and when he searched the vehicle, he found marijuana, ammunition and drug paraphernalia. The officer then arrested the passenger, a 36-year-old man, according to the report.
The two were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending the application for charges. Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said the case was being reviewed as of July 27 to determine if charges will be sought through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office or through federal court.
He said Arnold Police will seek charges against both men for delivering drugs, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. He said police will seek charges against the younger man for driving with a revoked license and the traffic violation.
