Arnold Police arrested a 53-year-old Bonne Terre man after they saw him putting gas into a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that had been reported stolen in St. Francois County, police reported.

Officers saw the pickup at about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Circle K gas station, 2001 Richardson Road. After confirming the pickup was stolen, they approached the man, the report said.

When the man saw the officers approaching him, he quickly got into the pickup and attempted to start it. However, an officer was able to open the door and stop him from starting the engine, according to the report.

The man was arrested, and officers learned he also was wanted by the Desloge Police on numerous warrants. The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for tampering with a motor vehicle, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
