A 36-year-old woman and a 42-year-old woman, both of Festus, were arrested in Arnold for alleged possession of methamphetamine after officers noticed the van they were in had different license plates on it. In addition, the license plates were attached to the van with zip ties, Arnold Police reported.

At about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11, Arnold Police officers spotted the 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van parked outside the Circle K gas station, 2001 Richardson Road. The 42-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat, and she told officers the driver was inside the convenience store, the report said.

The officers found the 36-year-old in the store, and she told them she didn’t have a front license plate, so she put a different plate on the front of the van. She was escorted to the van, and when officers searched her purse, they allegedly discovered a bag containing a white crystal-like substance, according to the report.

The officers then searched the van and allegedly found more white crystal-like substances, a glass pipe and more paraphernalia. They also discovered the 36-year-old was wanted by Arnold Police on a warrant for littering, the report said.

The women were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the women through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine. He also said the 36-year-old was issued another summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for littering.
