A would-be thief allegedly was going through an unlocked SUV parked inside a garage in the 2000 block of Agape Street in Arnold, and the owner reportedly caught the suspect in action and chased him away. The owner of the 2021 Honda Pilot, a 45-year-old Arnold man, said the suspect got into a blue Hyundai Sonata driven by another man, and the two raced away, Arnold Police said.
The Arnold man told police that at about 7:40 a.m. Dec. 7, he heard one of his neighbor’s yelling, so the victim went into his garage and saw someone going through his SUV. The victim said he yelled at the suspect, who ran way. The victim said he attempted to chase the Sonata but lost track of the car, the report said.
The homeowner said nothing was stolen from his SUV or garage, and he provided officers with a license plate number for the Sonata. The license plate was registered to a Chevrolet, according to the report.
Arnold Police said two men in a blue Hyundai Sonata also allegedly tried to break into a car on Dec. 5 in the Arnold Walmart parking lot, 2201 Michigan Ave. Cpl. Brett Ackermann said police do not know if the two incidents were related.
As of Dec. 17, the Sonata had not been recovered, Ackermann said. He asks anyone with information about the car to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
