A 49-year-old Arnold man has been accused of disguising himself as a Walmart employee before allegedly stealing $1,249.91 worth of items from the Arnold store, police reported.
Officers were called on June 23 to the department store, 2201 Michigan Ave., after the man was confronted by employees and fled, leaving the merchandise outside, the report said.
The man placed food, toys and other items in a large tote that was in a shopping cart. He then found an employee uniform vest that he put on before leaving the store, according to the report.
The officer was able to identify the man, and the Arnold Police are seeking charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony stealing, the report said.
As of July 8, the man had not been charged and had not been arrested, Lt. Detective Jeremy Christopher said.
