Arnold man charged for alleged drug possession

Tanner Shipley

Tanner Jay Shipley, 24, of Arnold was recently arrested after being charged with felony drug possession. He was allegedly found with a substance that tested positive as alprazolam after a car he was riding in was stopped for having an expired license plate in Arnold, according to court documents.

Shipley was arrested on April 21, and as of April 22, he was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Shipley was riding in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu that an Arnold Police officer on June 6, 2025, stopped on the entrance ramp to northbound I-55 off Hwy. 141. The officer wrote that Shipley appeared to try to hide something under the passenger’s seat following the stop.

Shipley was wanted on an active warrant at the time and was arrested, the report said.

An Arnold Police canine was called to the scene, and the dog indicated there may be illegal drugs in the car. An officer allegedly found a suspected controlled substance in the passenger’s side door pocket, according to the report.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substance, identifying it to be alprazolam, the report said.
