A 33-year-old Arnold man was arrested for alleged possession of a substance he claimed was fentanyl but police suspect was heroin. He was arrested outside the Lowe’s store, 920 Arnold Commons Drive, because the man reportedly was acting erratically – stumbling and flailing his arms as he walked around the parking lot, Arnold Police reported.

When an officer approached the man at about 11:30 a.m. Nov. 9, he allegedly kept putting his hands in his pockets and struggled to concentrate while talking to the officer. The man appeared to be under the influence of drugs, so the officer searched him, the report said.

The officer allegedly found a cigarette box in the man’s pants’ pocket, and the box had nine capsules inside. The capsules allegedly contained a white powdery substance, the report said.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Rich Shular said.
