A 43-year-old Arnold man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of an illegal drug after he allegedly ran into an unoccupied parked car in the 800 block of Morningside Lane. The man was not hurt in the accident, Arnold Police reported.
Arnold Police got a call at about 10:15 p.m. Sept. 6 about the accident. While driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, the suspect allegedly ran into the right front passenger side of a 2015 Kia Sorento parked outside the home on Morningside Lane. Both cars had minor damage, the report said.
A 56-year-old Arnold man who lives at the home and owns the Kia called police after hearing the impact. When police arrived, the Grand Prix’s engine was still running, but the driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The driver appeared to be dazed after the accident, so paramedics checked his condition, and he did not appear to be hurt. Officers asked him to exit the car, but he allegedly locked his door and refused to get out, the report said.
Eventually, officers got the door unlocked and physically removed the man from the car. He was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, and a blood sample was taken, according to the report.
Arnold Police issued the driver summonses to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for driving while under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, not wearing a seat belt, not having proof insurance, failing to register a motor vehicle and failing to drive in a single lane, Cpt. Brett Ackermann said.
