A 38-year-old Arnold man was arrested for allegedly leaving his 2-year-old child unattended in a vehicle, which rolled onto a neighboring property. In addition, the man was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident and possessing methamphetamine, Arnold Police reported.
At about 5 p.m. April 19, the child allegedly was left alone in a vehicle on Bridgeview Court in Arnold, and it rolled into a row of bushes on a neighboring property before coming to rest against another vehicle. The bushes were damaged, but the other vehicle was not, the report said.
After the vehicle with the child inside rolled onto the neighbor’s property, the 38-year-old man reportedly ran over to the vehicle but then fled the scene, according to the report.
A short time later, however, police found the man nearby. He allegedly was found with meth, the report said.
The man was taken into custody, transported to the Arnold Police Department, booked and released pending application for warrants. Police also contacted Children’s Division, Lt. Tom Leassner said.
Depending on results from the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for endangering the welfare of a child, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a controlled substance, Leassner said.
