A 47-year-old Arnold man allegedly shot and killed his family’s bloodhound during a dispute with his wife. The incident happened at 7:22 a.m. March 23 at a home on Bethany Court, Arnold Police reported.
The man allegedly shot the dog because his wife was fond of it, the report said.
After shooting the dog, the man reportedly threatened to harm himself. However, when officers arrived, they were able to take him into custody without further incident, and he was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for psychiatric evaluation, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Arnold Municipal Court for animal abuse and discharging a firearm within city limits, Capt. Rich Shular said.
