The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of items worth about $15,000 from a home that is being rehabilitated in the 2800 block of Marble Springs Road in Barnhart. The owner had moved out of the house after it was damaged because of a leak in the roof, authorities reported.
The theft happened between Aug. 1 and Aug. 8 when double-hung exterior doors were cut from their hinges and frames. The cost to repair the doors was estimated at $4,000, the report said.
Household appliances, carpenter tools, women’s jewelry, a tanning bed and other items were stolen from the home. As of Aug. 12, none of the items had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
