A tree fell onto to power lines this morning (Nov. 25), knocking electricity for about 1,000 residences and businesses in the Hillsboro area, Hillsboro Fire Chief Brian Gaudet said.
The incident occurred at about 11:05 a.m. in the 5000 block of Amy Clark Road off Pioneer Road, Gaudet said.
“It fell across the road,” Gaudet said. “Our role was to block the road from traffic and people to keep them away from the downed power lines until the electric company could get there.
“I got a call (at 2:20 p.m.) that one lane of Amy Clark Road has been opened to traffic.”
He said that as of about 2:20 p.m. 759 of those affected still were without power.
“There’s no ETA when power will be restored,” he said.
He said no injuries were reported in the incident.
