A trailer worth $7,000 was among items stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Valley View Drive in Barnhart. The incident occurred between 5:15 p.m. Nov. 14 and 10 a.m. Nov. 20, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim told investigators he noticed the trailer missing from the back yard and a door to a storage unit open. Items were missing from the storage area, the report said.
After that, the man began searching the house and found a door had been forced open. He also said he discovered that an urn filled with his father’s ashes had been moved from a closet and placed on the floor. He also noticed an open bottle of beer sitting on a desk near the ashes and another open bottle of beer in the basement, and he had not placed the beers there, the report said.
In addition to the trailer, stolen items included an aluminum ladder, a fiberglass ladder and a paint sprayer. In all, the items were valued at $7,600, according to the report.
On Nov. 29, Sgt. Matthew Moore of the Sheriff’s Office said none of the stolen items had been recovered and there were no arrests. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
