The Crystal City Pizza Hut will relocate to another spot in the Twin City Plaza, moving from 127 Twin City Plaza to 203 S. Truman Blvd., behind the recently constructed building fronted by a Pet Smart store, said one of the owners, Don Morin of A & D Management of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

A Rue 21, which sells women’s clothing and accessories, is slated to open in the space where the Pizza Hut currently operates.

In addition, A & D Management is opening a Pizza Hut delivery and carry-out operation at Pevely Farms Plaza shopping center along Commercial Boulevard in Pevely, said Lloyd Jones of R.L. Jones Properties of Arnold, which owns the Twin City Plaza.

Crystal City Pizza Hut

Morin said he hopes the Crystal City Pizza Hut isn’t closed long during the relocation.

“Our last day of business at the present location will be May 27,” he said today (May 16). “Due to construction difficulties, we will not open the new one until on or about June 23. Our lease runs out May 31 and the owner of the shopping center offered us space in the new building.”

Morin said the restaurant’s new location at 203 S. Truman Blvd. is smaller but will provide a more efficient use of space.

“The other place has 5,000 square feet and the new one has 3,500,” he said. “But the space will be more usable, a better fit for our needs.”

He said the new Pizza Hut will offer everything the old one has and more.

“It will have a WingStreet menu, with three kinds of wings and seven different sauces,” Morin said. “It will all be offered out of the same counter. We’ll just have some different equipment in the kitchen. We’ll also be expanding our sandwich and salad menu. This is all in addition to our regular menu.”

WingStreet is a separate chicken wing restaurant owned by the same parent company as Pizza Hut.

Morin said his company plans to add staff at the new Pizza Hut.

“We will increase staffing by 15 or so,” Morin said. “We have about 25 now.”

He said A & D Management owns 35 Pizza House restaurants, including 11 in Missouri that the company bought in 2004.

Rue 21

Jones said the space at 127 Twin City Plaza is better suited for Rue 21.

“The space fits their needs and the Pizza Hut’s (new space) better fits their needs,” he said.

Jones said the Rue 21 owners intend to open their business sometime in June or July.

“I know they want to open as soon as possible,” he said.

Pevely Pizza Hut

“They (A & D Management) plan to open the Pevely Pizza Hut in 90 to 120 days,” Jones said. “They want to move the one (currently) in Twin City Plaza first.”
