The new Arnold Post Office has opened after its previous location was shuttered more than two years ago.
The new Post Office, at 2184 Michigan Ave., started serving customers on March 20 inside the space in the Water Tower shopping plaza where a Here Today store used to operate, according to a Post Office employee.
The U.S. Postal Service did not respond to emails from the Leader newspaper about the opening of the new location, and no announcement about the opening was posted on the U.S. Postal Service website as of today, March 29.
Spokeswoman Tara Jarret previously said mail carriers began working out of the new location on Feb. 24, but the Post Office was not expected to open to customers until April.
The Arnold Post Office previously was located at 1314 Jeffco Blvd., across the street from the Water Tower shopping plaza, but the USPS began looking for a new Arnold location for the Post Office in June 2022. At the time, the Postal Service’s lease for the old location was set to expire in November 2022, but the lease was extended until January 2023, and the old location closed at that time.
The USPS set up a trailer in the parking lot outside the new Arnold Post Office location where minimal services were offered while the space for the new location was renovated.
While the renovations were underway, Chase Bank acquired the former Arnold Post Office location, demolished the building and constructed a bank branch at the site. The branch opened on Oct. 18, 2024.
The new Post Office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
