CCTV footage caught the moment a UPS plane erupted into a fireball - killing seven people.

The UPS plane - a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 - had three crew members and was bound for Honolulu, Hawaii.

The cargo plane crashed shortly after takeoff at 5:15pm local time yesterday (05/11), erupting into a massive fireball near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky.

The video, which was caught on CCTV footage, shows the moment the plane hits the runway before bursting into flames - causing a trail of destruction.

According to reports, at least seven people have been confirmed dead - including the plane crew - and 11 more have been injured.

The fire has been contained, and the search for 16 people is ongoing, according to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.

On their website, Louisville Airport said it is expected to reopen today, but passengers should prepare for any delays or cancellations.
