The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday at Cedar Hill Park, 7053 Cedar Hill Road, spokesman Grant Bissell said today.
“Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and piecing together what happened,” he said in an email.
The Sheriff’s Office was called about 4 p.m. Tuesday. When deputies arrived, they located a man who had been shot.
Bissell said the man was shot at least once in the lower left abdomen. He said the man was conscious when he was located by deputies and was able to walk to the ambulance before being transported to an area hospital.
Bissell said the man was treated and released from the hospital.
Bissell also said investigators believe everyone involved in the shooting knows each other.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office reported numerous deputies were near the park's river access and highways BB and B because it was not known if the shooter was hiding in the area. The park is located between the two highways and is near Hwy. 30.
The post said the Sheriff’s Office did not believe anyone else in the area was in danger following the shooting.
