An Imperial man was injured when the truck he was driving crossed the center line on Old Antonia Road and struck another vehicle on July 24.
J.D. Blackwell, 76, of Imperial received moderate injuries and was taken to St. Anthony’s Medical Center by the Rock Township Ambulance where he was in satisfactory condition on Friday (July 27), a hospital spokesman said.
Blackwell was westbound on Old Antonia Road east of Rustic Trail about 11:25 a.m. when his 2000 Chevrolet 2500 crossed the center line, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Natasha Young, 37, of Perryville was driving a 2015 Ford Taurus.
According to the patrol, as the truck crossed the centerline, Young steered to the left to avoid the truck and traveled off the roadway. As the car left the roadway, the truck struck the left rear of the Taurus.
Blackwell’s truck then traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility sign and a culvert, the Patrol said.
Both Blackwell and Young were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash, and both vehicles received minor damage in the accident, the report said.
