Prep work has begun for the planned 77-house Savanna Place subdivision along Horine Road in Festus, a spokesman for the project said.
Dan Govero of Govero Land Services, an engineer working for developer K.A.B. Builders of Hillsboro, on Dec. 19 said work has begun on the 18.86-acre tract of land.
“They’re grading as weather allows,” he said. “They’ll be putting utilities in. As soon as we get it ready, they’ll be ready to sell houses. The hope is to start selling by the spring.”
K.A.B. has built houses in the Providence subdivision in Herculaneum, the Bailey Farm subdivision in Antonia and the Tanglefoot Estates subdivision in Festus, Govero said.
He said the homes in Savanna Place will be built to buyers’ specifications.
“They’ll build to specs,” he said. “The houses start under $200,000.”
