fatal traffic accident

A House Springs woman died and a Grubville man and woman were seriously injured late Sunday afternoon, May 15, in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 30 and Old Gravois Road in Byrnes Mill, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 4:45 p.m., a 46-year-old Grubville woman was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado east on the highway and reportedly failed to stop at a red light, and the front of the pickup struck the right side of a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze that Patricia R. Hemenway, 83, of House Springs was driving south on Old Gravois Road, the report said.

The two drivers and a passenger in the pickup – Cody J. Tobben, 45, of Grubville – were taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.

Hemenway was pronounced dead at 5:34 p.m. at the hospital, according to the report.

The Grubville woman and man were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The two vehicles were totaled, the report said.
