Harness Road bridge

The Harness Road Bridge has been replaced, and it reopened this afternoon.

The last of three bridge replacement projects in southern Jefferson County has been completed. The bridge on Harness Road over a tributary to Hocum Hollow Creek was officially opened this afternoon, April 5, following a final walk-through with Jefferson County Public Works personnel, construction company representatives and Missouri Department of Transportation staff.

“We’re removing the barriers today, and there’ll be a crew out Monday (April 8) to take down all the detour signage,” said Robert Russell, civil project manager with the Public Works Department.

The other two bridges, one on Armbruster Road over Haverstick Creek and the other on Doss Hollow Road near Frazier Road over a tributary to Plattin Creek, previously were completed.

“We were able to come in under time on the project, because we were able to do work on all three simultaneously,” Russell said. “I don’t have the final numbers on cost, but it should be right at the original of $2.6 million.”

Eighty percent of the cost of the project comes from federal funding, while the other 20 percent comes from a countywide half-cent road and bridge sales tax.
