Fred Pringle’s eye-catching Halloween horse display at his home at 327 Andy Habsieger St. in Festus came about as a whim.
Pringle said he spent three days building the Halloween decoration, finishing it on Oct. 5. It looks like a horse pulling a cart and is made of hay bales, pumpkins and other items he had around the house.
“It’s made with a sawhorse and straw,” he said. “I started with a sawhorse, then built the horse around it. I haven’t done anything like this before. I just got (an inspiration to do it).”
Pringle said he used other materials in the project, and the horse is sturdy.
“I intend for kids to get on it,” he said.
Pringle said he and his wife, Cissy, moved to their home in Arnold from Paragould, Ark., a little more than a year ago to be closer to family members, and this is their second Halloween in Festus.
“We’ve decorated for Halloween before,” he said. “I just had never done anything like this.
Cissy said their neighbors seem to enjoy the decoration.
