Clyde Hamrick Elementary School in Imperial

Clyde Hamrick Elementary School in Imperial slated for improvements.

Two improvement projects are coming to Clyde Hamrick Elementary School in Imperial.

The school, which is part of the Fox C-6 School District, soon will have a new road designed to improve parking and traffic flow on school grounds.

In addition, the siding on the building’s media center wing will be replaced.

The Fox C-6 School District will pay a total of $97,250 for the two projects for the school at 4525 E. Four Ridge Road.

Board of Education members voted 6-0 on June 20 to award the separate contracts for the two projects. President April Moeckel was not at the meeting.

Spencer Contracting in Arnold will be paid $47,000 to install and pave the new road. The company submitted the lowest of five bids for the project, according to board documents.

Apex Restoration and Construction in Fenton will be paid $50,250 to replace the siding. The company submitted the only bid for the project, board documents said.

The new asphalt road will start at the south end of the front parking lot and circle behind the playground along the fence to connect to the school’s rear parking lot.

“This will create more parking,” said Kevin Piel, director of maintenance. “This will free up traffic jams on Four Ridge Road during student pickup and drop offs.”

Fox district spokesman JP Prezzavento said excavation has begun for the new road.

Piel said once the paving part of the project begins, it will take three to seven days to complete it.

The siding on Clyde Hamrick’s media center wing began showing signs of deterioration in May 2022, allowing water to seep into the building because of deterioration, Piel said.

“The siding replacement will protect the building from the weather, remove any safety risks of the siding falling off and give students and the community a nicer looking school building,” he said.

Prezzavento said installation of the new siding is expected to begin July 17.

Piel said that project will take about five to seven days to complete.
