Patrick Thomson, 35, of Festus is a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice” singing competition, on Adam Levine’s team.

On the blind auditions episode that aired Monday (March 3), Thomson sang the Marshall Tucker Band’s “Can’t You See,” getting both Levine and fellow judge Blake Shelton to turn their chairs around for him.

Both said they loved Thomson’s gritty voice.

After a fight for Thomson, he chose to join Levine’s team.

Several of Thomson’s friends and family were at the audition in Los Angeles to cheer him on, including Luke Tetrault, whose family owns and operates Taytro’s Bar & Bistro in Festus, where Thomson has performed.

Tetrault said Thomson is a good friend and has been an important part of the Taytro’s team since it opened in 2010.

Thomson is part of two bands – Black Tie Affair and Tricky -n- M.E. – that regularly perform around the St. Louis area.

Tetrault said he and other local business people plan to hold promotions designed to get people to support Thomson and buy his songs on iTunes in order to better his chances of winning “The Voice” competition.
