The Eureka Mountain Bike Park officially opens to the public on Saturday (June 13), the city announced on its Facebook page today.
The park, which will be open from dusk until dawn, is next to The Timbers of Eureka recreation center, 100 Coffey Park Lane. The Timbers currently is closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bike park amenities include directional trails, skill zone trails, a dual slalom, a kids’ bike playground, and more.
According to the city’s website, helmets will be required and failure to wear one might result in a suspension from the park.
The Eureka Board of Aldermen agreed in December 2019 to fund construction of the park on the vacant piece of city-owned property. The city paid Nomad Trails Development in Kansas City $103,563 to build the park, and altogether, the project cost $198,000, City Administrator Craig E. Sabo said.
