Easter bunny visits Eureka 2

Eureka Fire Protection District public information officer Scott Barthelmass stops the Easter Bunny at the Eureka city limits for a health screening in 2020.

The Easter bunny will hop into Eureka on March 27 for photos with families.

Eureka Parks and Recreation coordinator Lizzie Roberds said the department will hold the family photo opportunity from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at West Frisco Park, 14 W. Frisco Ave.

“It’s going to work a lot like we worked the pictures with Santa,” she said.

Roberds said registration is required and families will be given a time slot. She said there will be 20 families per time slot.

Roberds said photos will be taken inside the gazebo at the park.

“We really like the backdrop of the gazebo,” she said.

She said children will receive a goodie bag with a dozen filled Easter eggs, an activity booklet and a springtime-themed craft, while supplies last.

Roberds said normally the city holds an Easter egg hunt and offers lunch to those who attend. That event traditionally is held the week before Easter weekend, but the events this year and last were both canceled because of the concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

“Obviously, with COVID that’s not something that we can necessarily do right now,” she said. “We’re still getting a chance to see the bunny and get everybody’s annual pictures.”

Roberds said anyone interested in registering for photos may sign up at eureka.mo.us.
