The deadline is looming like a spooky old tree over a haunted house. You only have until 5 p.m. Friday (Oct. 7) to submit a photo to the second annual Leader Spooktacular photo contest, sponsored by Leader Publications.
Jefferson County residents of all ages are invited to submit their best Halloween costume photos for the Spooktacular special sections in the Oct. 22 and Oct. 29 issues of the newspaper.
Entries will be accepted in three categories: grownups, children and pets. A $100 prize will be offered to the winner in each category, chosen by random drawing.
The people and animals in the photos may be living or dead (or undead!); the photos may be current or from long ago. There is a limit of five entries per household.
Photos may be dropped off at the Leader office at 503 N. Second in Festus; sent to P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; or emailed to Nvrweakly@aol.com.
In order to be eligible for the contest, all submissions must include the following:
■ Photographer's name, address and phone number.
■ The names of any people (first and last) or pets in the photo.
■ When and where the photo was taken.
The winning photos and as many others as space permits will be published in the Spooktacular special sections; more will be posted to the paper’s website at www.myleaderpaper.com.
For more information about the contest, call the Leader office at 636-931-7560.
