Some local churches and organizations are bringing back free in-person Thanksgiving meals for those in need after canceling them last year because of COVID-19.

The meals generally consist of traditional Thanksgiving fare, such as turkey, dressing, potatoes and pie, although the food may vary from group to group.

■ Windsor Baptist Church, 6701 Hwy. 61-67, in Imperial will hold an in-person community Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25. For reservations, call the church at 636-464-9008 by Nov. 22.

■ The First Baptist Church of

De Soto, 2000 Grace Way, will host a free Thanksgiving Day dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants also have the option of curbside service. Those who live within the De Soto city limits may have meals delivered. To register for delivery or curbside service, call 636-586-2500. The deadline to register is Nov. 24.

■ The C.I.A. (Community Improvement Association) will hold its annual covered-dish, potluck Thanksgiving dinner at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the C.I.A. Hall, 13468 Hwy. JJ, southeast of De Soto. Turkey, dressing and potluck food will be served. Doors open at 4 p.m., and country music will be played at 6 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share. ■ The Jefferson County Rescue Mission, 8943 Commercial Blvd. (Hwy. 61-67) in Pevely, won’t hold an in-person dinner, but it will give away Thanksgiving dinner baskets to its regular clients and others in need, said Louise Sardo, co-founder and director of the organization. “We don’t want anyone to go without Thanksgiving dinner,” she said. People may call 636-475-3030 through Nov. 24 to register and pick up a dinner basket. No baskets will be distributed on Thanksgiving day, she said.
