The Festus City Council has a new member – Brian Wehner, a Festus businessman.
Festus City Council members voted unanimously Wednesday night (May 13) to appoint Wehner to fill the Ward 2 seat left vacant when Kathy Murphy died of cancer in April.
Wehner will serve the final year of Murphy’s two-year term she won in 2014. She was first elected to that seat in 2010.
The Ward 2 seat will be up for election in April 2016.
A moment of silence was held in Murphy’s memory at the start of the meeting on Wednesday.
Wehner, 60, owns Wehner’s Awards, 212 E. Main St., Festus. He and his wife, Robin, have two grown children.
