A new restaurant is slated to open in the next month and a half or so at 218 E. Main St. in Festus, where the White Grill had operated for 80 years, from 1938 until earlier this year when it closed.
Brick Bistro & Brew owner Cindy Rice, 55, of Crystal City said the space is being renovated for the new restaurant and will open once the work is complete.
“I hope to be open by July 1,” she said Monday (May 14). “It will be a coffee shop with food – sandwiches and salads and pizzas. We’re going to have amazing cocktails. We’ll have a little bit of music.”
She and her husband, Larry Rice, 53, own the new business and are renting the space on Main Street.
The Festus City Council approved a liquor license for the business on May 9.
The Rices operated Main Street Bistro & Espresso Bar a short distance away, at 214 E. Main St., for about a year before closing in December 2017, Rice said.
Right now, Rice said she said intends to hire one full-time and one part-time employee.
