Arnold Rotary Club members will once again deliver Thanksgiving meals to those who need them.
Fox C-6 and Windsor C-1 school district residents who need the meals are asked to sign up to receive a delivery on the Nov. 23 holiday.
The deadline to sign up is Monday, Nov. 13. To schedule a delivery, call 636-492-2772.
Club members and volunteers will prepare 1,000 meals at the First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road, and then will deliver the pre-cooked, individually packaged meals consisting of ham; dressing; potatoes and gravy, green beans; a roll and dessert.
Rotary member Steve Smith said it will be the seventh year for the club to make and deliver Thanksgiving meals.
Typically, the meals are delivered to families in need and to older residents who are homebound, Smith said.
“It is a benefit for a lot of people to have these meals delivered to them,” he said.
Smith said the club needs volunteers to help with the project.
He said it takes about 20 volunteers to cook the food, about 40 to package the food and another 40 to deliver the meals.
Smith said a volunteer typically works for one to two hours the morning of Thanksgiving, sometime between 6 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
“It is very gratifying and satisfying to volunteer,” Smith said. “We are living the true Rotary motto of service about self.”
Those who want to volunteer may call the club at 636-492-2772.
