Vote button 2022

Jefferson County voters will have some decisions to make at the polls on April 4, 2023.

When the period for candidates to file for the April election closed on Dec. 27, numerous races had emerged, including mayoral races in Festus, Herculaneum and Hillsboro.

The Jefferson County Health Department Board of Trustees, which has three seats up for election on April 4, drew the most interest, with nine people filing to serve on that board.

Several cities also will have races for seats on their councils or boards, including Arnold, Cedar Hill Lakes, Crystal City, De Soto, Hillsboro and Pevely.

Nine school districts will see races for seats on their boards of education, including Crystal City, De Soto, Fox C-6, Grandview R-2, Hillsboro R-3, Jefferson R-7, Meramec Valley, Rockwood and Windsor C-1.

In addition, the Joachim-Plattin, Meramec, North Jefferson County and Rock Township ambulance districts will have races for seats on their boards, as will the Pacific Fire Protection District.

The last day for governmental entities to place tax increase requests and other measures on the April ballot is Jan. 24. The last day to register to vote in the election is March 8.

For this story, the Leader attempted to contact all the entities with seats up for election in April. Not all entities responded by Leader deadline.
