The Fox C-6 School District will be paid $10,000 for a shoe company to use Antonia Middle School for the setting of a back-to-school photo shoot.
BG Retail LLC, which operates Famous Footwear shoe stores, contacted the district about using one of its school buildings to shoot its ad campaign.
District officials said a representative for the St. Louis-based company toured some of Fox’s schools and decided Antonia Middle best suited the campaign’s purpose.
The photo shoot will be April 2, which is the first day of the Fox district’s spring break.
Fox Chief Financial Officer John Stewart said he is not aware of any of the district’s other buildings being part of an ad campaign photo shoot in the past.
He said the $10,000 will be placed into the district’s rental revenue account and will not be allocated to any particular expenditure.
“It will simply help fill the overall revenue gap the district is experiencing this year,” Stewart said.
On March 16, Board of Education members voted unanimously to approve a contract with BG Retail for its ad campaign photo shoot. As part of the deal, BG Retail will not use any signage that identifies the school or the district in the ad campaign photos.
