A 54-year-old Wildwood woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on drugs following a one-vehicle accident on Tuesday evening, May 31, on I-270 north of Hwy. 370 near Hazelwood in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7:05 p.m., the woman was driving a 2019 Ford Edge south on the interstate and the SUV ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail, the report said.
She and a passenger in the vehicle – Kevin M. Mesenbrink, 61, of Wildwood – were seriously injured and taken by ambulance to SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, according to the report.
Both were wearing seat belts, and the SUV was moderately damaged, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the woman at 8:31 p.m. at the hospital.
Her name will not be published unless charges are filed against her, and as of this afternoon, June 2, none had been filed.
