A De Soto man was seriously injured Thursday night, July 28, in a two-vehicle crash at Hwy. E and Upper Blackwell Road south of De Soto near Blackwell in Jefferson County. A Bonne Terre man and a High Ridge woman also were injured in the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 10:25 p.m., Richard A. Singer, 48, of De Soto was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze and while turning right from Upper Blackwell Road onto southbound Hwy. E, he reportedly failed to yield to a 1998 GMC Suburban driven by Homer D. Rawson, 68, of Bonne Terre, who was headed south on the highway, and the front of the Suburban struck the driver side of the Cruze, the report said.

Singer was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.

Both Rawson and a passenger in the Suburban – Melissa L. Newburger, 43, of High Ridge – had minor injuries and also were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy South, according to the report.

All those hurt in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
