An Illinois man was hurt Saturday afternoon, July 1, when the SUV in which he was riding was involved in a traffic accident on Fiedler Lane in the Fenton area of Jefferson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Manuel Gomez, 40 of Fairmount City, Ill., was driving a 2005 Buick Rainier east on Fiedler Lane east of Bridleton Woods Lane at 12:47 p.m. when he tried to negotiate a curve too fast for conditions and drove off the right side of the road. As Gomez applied the brakes, the SUV began to slide and the front passenger side hit a tree.
The report made no mention of an injury to Gomez, but a passenger in the SUV, Jesus Gomez, 41, also of Fairmount City, sustained moderate injuries. He was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
Manuel Gomez was wearing a seat belt, the report said, but Jesus Gomez was not. The SUV had extensive damage, according to the report.
