Richard L. Lalk Jr., 41, of House Springs was seriously injured Thursday, Oct. 27, in a three-vehicle accident on Antire Road south of Brookside Drive between Eureka and High Ridge, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 3:47 p.m., Lalk was riding south on a 2013 Yamaha FZ1-SC when he reportedly attempted to pass a 2017 Ford F-150 driven south in a no passing zone by Robert B. Higgins, 58, of High Ridge. Lalk then struck the side of a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Richard A. Bostic, 53, of St. Louis and the undercarriage of the F-150. Lalk was ejected from the motorcycle, the report said.
Lalk was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was critical condition as of Friday morning, Oct. 28, a hospital spokesperson said.
According to the report, Higgins and Bostic were wearing seat belts, and Lalk was not wearing a helmet, or at least not a Department of Transportation-approved helmet, the patrol reported.
The motorcycle was extensively damaged, and the Silverado had minor damage. No damage was reported for the F-150.
