Three Jefferson County teenagers were injured, two of them seriously, Monday night (Feb. 21) in a head-on crash on Hwy. 21 south of Hwy. M in the Otto area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:26 p.m., a 16-year-old Festus girl was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox the wrong way on Hwy. 21, traveling north in the southbound lanes, and the front of the Equinox struck the front of a southbound 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Hana C. Maue, 19, of Hillsboro, the report said.
The 16-year-old Festus girl and Maue were seriously injured, and a 16-year-old De Soto boy who was a passenger in the Equinox was moderately injured. All three teens were transported by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
However, the hospital had no information about Hana, a hospital spokesman said.
No information was available about the conditions of the two 16-year-olds.
All three involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two vehicles were totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol did not release the names of the 16-year-olds because they are juveniles.
