A 51-year-old St. Charles woman died in a crash Friday night, March 14, on I-55 north of Richardson Road in Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 11:43 p.m., the woman was driving a southbound 2014 Infiniti Q50 when she entered a large puddle of standing water from the storms and lost control. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and hit a concrete median wall before returning to the roadway and striking the front left side of a 2015 GMC Yukon driven by a 20-year-old Ste. Genevieve woman and the front of a 2000 Freightliner Century driven by a 31-year-old Winston-Salem, N.C., woman, the report said.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene by Rock Community Fire Protection District personnel and was taken by Edward Mortuary to St. Louis County Morgue, the report said.

The driver of the Yukon and five occupants: a 14-year-old Ste. Genevieve boy, a 16-year-old Ste. Genevieve girl; a 17-year-old Herrin, Ill. boy, a 45-year-old Ste. Genevieve woman, a 46-year-old Ste. Genevieve man all had minor injuries and were taken by Rock Township Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

The report said everyone was wearing a seat belt. The Infiniti was totaled, and the Freightliner and Yukon had extensive damage.

As of this afternoon, March 15, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has listed this fatal crash as the only storm-related fatality in Jefferson County.
