motorcycle crash patrol patch

A Pevely man was injured Tuesday morning, June 27, in a motorcycle crash on Hwy. 61-67 north of Imperial Main Street, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7:05 a.m., Michael R. Smith, 39, of Pevely was riding a 2011 Harley-Davidson XL 1200N north on the highway, and as he was turning right into a parking lot, Johnny E. Pyatt, 58, of Imperial, driving a northbound 2002 Buick LeSabre, struck the back of the motorcycle. Smith was ejected from the bike, the report said.

Smith was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.

However, the hospital did not have information about him, a Mercy spokeswoman said.

Smith was wearing a helmet, and Pyatt was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The Harley was totaled, and the Buick sustained minor damage, the report said.
